【摘要】:Excessiveamountsofunreactedmonomermaycauseconcernsrelatingtotoxicityandodor.Thistestmethodisdesignedtomeasuretheunreactedmonomercontentoflatexes.Theresultsmaybeusedtomonitortheextentofpolymerizationduringmanufacture,aswellastoestablishmaximumunreactedmonomercontentforregulatorypurposes.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoffreemonomercontentofacryliclatexes.Monomersthathavebeensuccessfullydeterminedbythisprocedureincluden-butylmethacrylate,n-butylacrylate,styrene,andmethylmethacrylate.Thedeterminationofothermonomershasnotbeenevaluated,butthistestmethodisbelievedtobeapplicable.Theestablishedworkingrangeofthistestmethodisfrom100to1000x03BC;g/g,butthereisnoreasontobelieveitwillnotworkoutsideofthisrange,providedthatappropriatedilutionsandadjustmentsinspecimensizearemade.1.2Thevolatilecompositionofacryliclatexesisexpectedtochangewithtimeandenvironmentalfactors.Thistimedependenceofthedeterminationmaybeseenasanartificiallylargedeviationofresults,makingthemethodmostlyapplicableforin-housequalitycontrol,wheresamplingandanalysisconditionscanbebettercontrolled.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SeeSection7forspecifichazardstatements.
